What were you doing before Gridcog, and what got you into the energy space?

Prior to joining Gridcog, I was working as a Technical Consultant at Diversus in Perth, where I had the opportunity to work across a wide range of projects, domains and industries.

The projects I found most interesting and fulfilling were often those tackling larger-scale global problems. One particularly memorable example was contributing to a project supporting efforts against modern slavery. Experiences like that, combined with a growing awareness of just how important energy - and particularly clean energy - is to the modern world, made me increasingly curious about working in the space.

What is your role at Gridcog?

I've joined Gridcog as a Software Engineer on the App team. My primary focus will be contributing to the new Results and Reporting experience that's currently taking shape. I'm looking forward to drawing on my previous experience and helping make the new experience the best it can be.

What attracted you to working with Gridcog?

Gridcog appealed to me for a number of reasons, but at its core, I really aligned with the long-term mission of helping accelerate the transition to more sustainable energy.

Having software development skills in today's world opens up a huge range of opportunities, but not all of them necessarily contribute to a better world. I'm excited by the idea that the work I do at Gridcog can.

What do you like to do outside of work?

Outside of work, I wear a few different hats. I'm very much a traditional nerd in that I enjoy video games, pop culture and hacking away on personal projects.

At the same time, I love staying active and being outdoors. I've played sports for most of my life, and after finding a real passion for volleyball at university, I now spend a lot of my free time on the court - both playing and coaching.

When I want a change of pace but still feel like doing something active, I'm also a bit of an adrenaline junkie. Skydiving, snowboarding, climbing - sign me up.

What technology could you not live without?

I really struggled to pick a single answer to this one. However, after reading Pio's response of a rice cooker, I honestly couldn't agree more - I've got a fairly fancy one at home myself.

Otherwise, my slightly boring answer would probably be my car. It's not unusual for me to spend a good chunk of the weekend driving an hour to see mates or bouncing between different volleyball courts, so that one's pretty crucial for me. đŸ™‚
