Accurately Reflect Physical and Commercial Requirements
Model the full physical and commercial feature set to accurately represent true-to-life infrastructure and capabilities.
- Physical modelling: Seven assets to model, co-locate assets, configure them granularly, reflect grid constraints
- Commercial modelling: value stack assets, commercial structures, multiple participants (e.g. landlords and tenants), add your data to the Gridcog Library to ensure the project is a true reflection of your client’s site

Battery Modelling Grounded In Technical Reality
Understand how battery design and operating assumptions affect long-term value.
- Easily compare financial and physical impacts of warranties and degradation (cycles/day, efficiency, depth of discharge)
- Model repowering scenarios with CAPEX/OPEX assumptions
- Reflect battery responses to in-depth market rules such as bid rounding, headroom/footroom and trading

Accurately Model Markets Reflecting Real Market Rules
Simulate how assets actually dispatch and earn revenue under real market conditions.
- Reflect market rules, settlement logic and test new upcoming regulation changes
- Model wholesale energy, ancillary, balancing & capacity revenue streams
- Use Gridcog-benchmarked acceptance rates and energy utilisation for ancillary markets, or use your own assumptions.
- Understand how dispatch outcomes change with asset size and configuration, including forecast uncertainty
“Without Gridcog, we could not have delivered our first major UK project. Beyond the financial return, the software has given us credibility in the market. It has made us a voice of authority when discussing the energy transition with clients.”

We regularly benchmark Gridcog simulations against real assets in the market, we make the results of this benchmarking available in our client documentation and set sensible defaults across the platform informed by this work. Our rich Library includes historical pricing data which is updated daily via API and TSO and DSO tariffs are updated in line with updates from the network operators themselves.

Gridcog’s commercial model is highly flexible and configurable. Clients can model commercial arrangements from subsidies, PPAs to merchant models and more. It’s easy to customise which markets or value streams your assets are exposed to and add additional project stakeholders in the commercial model. Clients can also configure which stakeholder their flexible asset is optimising for and assess how this alters revenues and dispatch patterns.
Accurately reflecting market rules is imperative. Gridcog includes all of the building blocks and relevant parameters for clients to ensure that local market rules are simulated properly. For ancillary service markets these include, bid rounding, headroom/footroom, activation pricing, energy utilisation, offers accepted and bid intervals (blocks). For wholesale markets these include trading between multiple markets, churn (or virtual trading) and price thresholds required to churn. More parameters exist for capacity and balancing markets as well.
